Our commitment is simple — to provide sailors with superior products, service and design all at a great value. Whether it is a day sail on the blue-green fresh waters of one of the Great Lakes or rail down and hauling in a Mac race, Ullman Sails Detroit creates hand-crafted sails that fit your specific needs and lake.
Ullman Sails Detroit is located in southeast Michigan at 24422 Sorrentino Court in Clinton Township. The facility is housed in a 4,000 square foot sail loft with a 2,000 square foot elevated assembly floor that has six sewing stations as well as air and hydraulic powered finishing tools.
Sail designs are accomplished in-house using the Smar-Azure sail design software program. The loft also uses a Carlson 101 Plotter for laying out sail designs on fabric rolls to maximize the utilization of the fabric and to minimize wasted material.
The loft offers the following services to its customers throughout Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ontario, Canada:
- Sail Design and Manufacturing – Sails are designed and manufactured in-house as well as in the Ullman Sails state of the art factory in South Africa.
- Inspection and Evaluation – Customers may bring their sails to the loft to be evaluated and inspected. A comprehensive review of the sails will be performed by our staff with the boat owner.
- Sail Repairs and Recuts – Repairs by our knowledgeable and experienced service department are accomplished in a timely manner. Sails can also be recut to maximize performance.
- Sail Washing – Sails can be professionally machine washed.
- Sail Measurement – Sails can be measured and certificates are provided that may be submitted for obtaining rating certificates.
